This week turned out to be an extremely good result for us. The goal going in was walk away from Altenberg with 2 safe runs, no crashes, lots of experience and learn as much as we can. With Lucas Mata on the brakes for his second world cup start for the season. Not only did we do that, after the first run we were sitting in 13th place just a few tenths of a second from top 10. The second runs didn't go so well, a few minor mistakes cost us some time and we dropped 3 places and finished the race in 16th place. Still quite the result when you put things in to perspective. New track, new sled, 14 runs total on the track. The odds are generally against inexperience on tracks and new equipment. So a happy team we head off this morning from Altenberg to Koenigssee Germany for next weeks stop on the World cup circuit #7. Proud of our achievements knowing we left nothing behind.
Since the race, I have had to turn to the historians and record keepers regarding our result. I am happy to say this is the highest ever 2 man result by any Australian men's team ever in the history of the sport. Another reason to be happy with only 397 days till Sochi 2014.
